"training transformation is about making sure that we are focused on training the way we actually fight, " said dr. paul mayberry, deputy undersecretary of defense for readiness. "that is, as a joint team with the other services, as part of a joint multinational force, with interagencies such as the departments of justice and homeland security and intergovernmental agencies such as county and local police." he said one of the department of defense's transformation goals is ultimately to create a more joint force to meet the needs of the combatant commander and that transforming dod training is a key element to achieving that goal. at fort carson, soldiers frequently work with other branches of the military in order to maximize deployment preparedness as well as to imitate real-life deployment conditions where the different branches of the military frequently work together. one of fort carson's programs is joint service training operations individual readiness training. jstoirt is designed to train airmen and seamen to army standards in order to better prepare them for deployment. already, carson soldiers have trained hundreds of air force and navy personnel, from various units across the united states, on common army tasks including basic rifle marksmanship, combat lifesaver training and drivers training. as operation iraqi freedom and operation enduring freedom continue, the demands are that we have an armed force that is flexible and adaptable, said mayberry. the army's 2004 posture statement said one of the army's goals for transformation is to provide relevant and ready land power for combat commanders in a joint force. mayberry said training transformation is a means by which the army can accomplish that objective. History would repeat itself in this game as again the aces found themselves in an offensive slugfest with the young talented tactics team. it looked like the aces would once again come up short in a onerun game until the team pushed across the winning run in its last at bat to earn a hard fought and much needed 19-18 victory. the victory gave the team some momentum and was a relief after having to come back from the one-run loss in the first game of the tournament. the victory sent the post team home saturday night with the right frame of mind to rest for the remainder of saturday and get ready for action on sunday morning. the rest seemed to do the post team good sunday morning as it prepared to meet dee's rv for the right to move on. it was evident from the beginning of the game that at least this game would be one the post team was ready to play. the post team had a bounce in its step and some timely hits in its bats as it pounded dee's rv into submission, earning an 188 victory and setting up a rematch with the tactics team it beat saturday afternoon for the right to play for the championship. tactics was bent on a little revenge from the onerun loss it suffered at the hands of the post team saturday and they played airtight defense and got consistent hitting over the course of the six inning game to earn a 14-4 victory and end the tournament action for the post team. the post team will be in softball tournament action again saturday and sunday when it plays in a tournament at skyview sports complex in colorado springs beginning saturday and poker table felt.
